See 'Supergirl' Season 2 Get Improved By John Williams' Signature 'Superman' Score

Not too long ago, we saw the first clip from the second season of Supergirl, coming to The CW for the first time in exactly one week. The new footage introduced us to Tyler Hoechlin as Kara Zor-El's Kryptonian cousin Kal-El, better known on Earth as Superman. The actor made a decent enough impression as both Clark Kent and The Man of Steel as he met up with Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) in the sky to stop an aircraft from crashing to Earth. But now one Superman fan has improved the footage from Supergirl with the use of John Williams' signature score from the original film franchise starring Christopher Reeve.

This video by JasonVorhees2011 serves as a testament to just how amazing the music of John Williams was in Superman. While I found the footage from Supergirl's second season to be solid, this score just makes it work on another level. It adds a little bit of a cheesy element to the proceedings (which fits with the show's style from time to time), while also lending a bit more gravitas to the TV version of the superheroes.

It's a shame that the music for Supergirl isn't more memorable. Obviously we can't expect a network show to have a weekly score that measures up to the greatness of John Williams, but having a theme that's a little more recognizable would be a good place to start. In the meantime, we can just have the internet keep using old scores by John Williams to pad out the series.
