Predator, Alita: Battle Angel, Maze Runner 3 & Fox's Untitled Marvel Film Go IMAX

IMAX has announced they will be expanding their partnership with Twentieth Century Fox to include four key tentpole films: Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Predator, Alita: Battle Angel and the Fox's untitled Marvel film. Hit the jump for the details.

What this means for us is that those four films will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX format and released in IMAX theatres worldwide. No word on if any of these productions will be shot using the IMAX digital or IMAX film cameras, or if the films will feature sequences which will expand to the full IMAX ratio screen. Maze Runner: The Death Cure has already begun filming, while the other productions have not yet begun principal photography so its possible they could still plan sequences for IMAX presentation. Here are the scheduled release dates:

  • Untitled Fox / Marvel Film (2017) 10/6/17
  • Maze Runner: The Death Cure 1/12/18
  • Predator (2018) 2/9/18
  • Alita: Battle Angel 7/20/18
  • We still don't know what the 2017 Fox Marvel film will be, although it could be Deadpool 2 or another X-Men sequel. Here is the official press release:
