'Pacific Rim 2' Casts Levi Meaden As A New Cadet
Aftermath star Levi Meaden has joined the cast of Steven S. DeKnight's Pacific Rim 2. He will star alongside John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny and Jing Tian.Variety broke the news of the Levi Meaden Pacific Rim 2 casting, revealing that Meaden will be playing "an irreverent and offbeat cadet" named Ilya. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but we have heard that John Boyega will be playing the son of the Idris Elba's character Stacker Pentecost from the original Guillermo del Toro film.
Meaden previously appeared in the final season of The Killing which aired on Netflix, Syfy's Olympus, and the CW's The 100. He is currently starring in the Syfy series Aftermath about a family battling for survival when civilization comes to an apocalyptic end. Aftermath will premiere on the Syfy channel on September 27th, 2016. I've only seen Meaden in The Killing, and his role was pretty minor from what I can recall. You can see Meaden in this featurette for his upcoming Syfy show:
Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, Jon Jashni, and del Toro will produce the action adventure film along with Boyega and Femi Oguns under their Upper Room Productions shingle. Cale Boyter will serve as the movie's executive producer.
Production seems to be gearing up as earlier this week it was revealed that Chinese actress Jing Tian had joined the cast. Pacific Rim 2, which is currently untitled, begins filming this November in Australia (with additional shooting scheduled for China). Pacific Rim 2 is set to be released on February 23rd, 2018 by Universal Pictures around the world with the exception of China, where Legendary will distribute directly alongside its parent company Wanda.
