'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Adds Hannibal Buress And Three More
As cameras roll in Atlanta, Spider-Man: Homecoming is making a few last-minute additions. Hannibal Buress has just joined the Marvel / Sony superhero movie, along Isabella Amara (The Boss) and Sundance breakouts J.J. Totah (Other People) and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (The Land). Tom Holland plays Peter Parker in the movie directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car).
If you've been following the Spider-Man: Homecoming casting updates, you probably already know what we're going to say: no details have been revealed about any of the new characters. The quartet join an ever-expanding cast that also includes Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Zendaya as the unnamed female lead, and Michael Keaton as the unnamed villain. Logan Marshall-Green, Martin Starr, Donald Glover, Tony Revolori have also signed on in the past several weeks.
Buress is in the middle of a very busy 2016. He reprised his role as Lincoln for the third season of Broad City this spring, and had small roles in The Nice Guys and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (both very good, very funny movies, by the way). He'll be heard later this summer in The Secret Life of Pets, and he recently wrapped The Masterpiece with James Franco and Baywatch with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.
Amara played a young Melissa McCarthy in this spring's The Boss, and has Craig Johnson's Wilson and Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life coming up next. Lendeborg made his feature film debut in The Land, a Sundance 2016 drama about teenage skateboarders in Cleveland. Totah was also at Sundance this past winter, stealing scenes in the Jesse Plemons cancer dramedy Other People. At 14 he's already a small-screen vet whose credits include Glee and Disney Channel's Jessie.
We're at the point now where all this secrecy is starting to get a little annoying, but with Spider-Man: Homecoming now in production it shouldn't be long before more details start to leak out. Spider-Man: Homecoming opens July 7, 2017.
