'Legends Of Tomorrow' Trailer: There Is Now A Television Program Starring Hawkgirl And Firestorm
Legends of Tomorrow looks like the kind of oddball superhero comic that flies under the radar, gains a strong niche following, and gets cancelled far too early. That is entirely meant as a compliment – some of the best superhero comic books of all time follow that pattern.
We don't want to say anything brash like "Legends of Tomorrow is going to be a great show that will die young!", but we will say that it certainly looks like the kind of under-the-radar superhero comic we like so much. Here are eight C-list superheroes, rounded up and tasked with traveling throughout time to keep C-list villain Vandal Savage from conquering the world. This show has no right to exist, which is why its mere presence is enough to make us break out in a big grin. The latest trailer for this show lacks the cinematic panache of the last one, but we're still getting a TV show starring the likes of Firestorm and Hawkgirl. We'll give this thing a chance.
Watch the new Legends of Tomorrow trailer after the jump.
Whereas earlier trailers were all about trying to sell a complicated and bizarre plot, this new preview is all about attitude. Here are seven very young and very attractive people, plus Victor Garber, jumping across Earth's timeline while exchanging wisecracks with one another and trading blows with the enemy. What's not to like? Or, more accurately, what's going to probably start off a bit iffy in its first episodes before getting really good later on, Arrow- and The Flash-style?
Set in the same universe as The Flash and Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow stars Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer, a.k.a. the Atom, Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein, a.k.a. one half of Firestorm, Franz Drameh as Jefferson Jackson, a.k.a. the other half of Firestorm, Caity Lotz as Sara Lance, a.k.a. Black Canary, Ciara Renee as Hawkgirl, Falk Henschel as Hawkman, Dominic Purcell as Heat Wave, Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold, Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, and Casper Crump as Vandal Savage. With a line-up like that, you have to wonder which DC characters this show has waiting in the wings. If we can live to see an age where a guy who once played Superman gets to play the Atom on an expensive-looking superhero on a large-enough television network, you have to wonder who else this show will bring to life during its run.
Legends of Tomorrow will premiere on The CW on January 21, 2015.
