'Ant-Man' Honest Trailer: The Best Micro Movie Since 'Honey I Shrunk The Kids'
It's always interesting to see what the Honest Trailer for a good movie chooses to poke fun at, and in the case of Marvel Studios isolated superhero heist movie Ant-Man, that's exactly what we get to see. As the Ant-Man Honest Trailer points out, against all odds, this movie actually kinda works. But that doesn't change the fact that it's basically the exact same plot of Iron Man, but just with a different kind of suit.
Here's the Ant-Man Honest Trailer from Screen Junkies:
It's hard to argue with the fact that this story is recycled from Iron Man, and you may not even realize some of the similarities at first. But enough of the details are changed to make it interesting. It also helps that Scott Lang is a much different character than Tony Stark, even if Hank Pym is basically Tony Stark Sr. (as the Honest Trailer aptly points out).
It's kind of a miracle that audiences actually bought into Ant-Man considering the premise is just so silly. But the combined fun of the Marvel Cinematic Universe along with the charm of Paul Rudd and the gravitas of Michael Douglas just worked magnificently (and they made a weirdly awesome promotional video too). But perhaps the best thing about Ant-Man is Michael Peña, one of the few Latinos in the cinematic universe. Here's hoping that he has a big part in Ant-Man and the Wasp to keep the comedic relief going so that Paul Rudd can keep doing hero stuff.
