VOTD: Original 'Star Wars' Trilogy Gets Mashed Up With 'The Force Awakens' Trailer
It's been just one week since the final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens debuted online, and I've lost count of how many times that I've watched it. I've even taken the time to repeatedly listen to the version that isolates just the music from the trailer, which isn't actually new music from John Williams, but repurposed versions of his original themes.
But if you're somehow getting bored with The Force Awakens trailer, one fan has spiced things up by taking footage from the original Star Wars trilogy and cutting it to the music from The Force Awakens trailer. The result is a Star Wars trilogy trailer that has me excited to marathon of all of them again in December.
Here's the Star Wars trilogy mashed up with The Force Awakens trailer from Medley Weaver:
Obviously not all the footage is from the original Star Wars trilogy, since the editor uses the shot of the Millennium Falcon flying at the screen through hyperspace from The Force Awakens trailer. But that's an awesome shot, so we won't hold it against him.
The use of Obi-Wan Kenobi's dialogue from A New Hope as ghostly voiceover in the beginning works perfectly, and it gives a new vibe to a film franchise that I've watched countless times throughout my life. It's not quite as exciting or fun as the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer mash-up with Star Wars, but it's still pretty damn cool.
Of course, if you want to go the other way and ruin the The Force Awakens trailer for yourself, some monster added Jar Jar Binks into a bunch of shots to destroy how magical this final tease of the new movie turned out to be. Surely this won't be the last Star Wars trailer mash-up worth of checking out, but it's a good one to hold us over until The Force Awakens arrives.
