VOTD: New Documentary Relives The Battle Of Endor From 'Return Of The Jedi'
Some film franchises and television shows have a large enough mythology and universe that entire encyclopedias (or more commonly Wikis today) have been written in an attempt to chronicle every facet of the world that some of our favorite stories unfold. Star Wars, Star Trek, Game of Thrones, Lost and more all have expansive and rich histories.
Now a new web series from Machinima is diving into some of the milestone moments of our favorite films and TV shows with Real Fake History. Created in the style of a History Channel show or Ken Burns documentary, these documentary shorts examine the fictional wars, events and stories of films and television. The first episode has just gone live taking a look at the pivotal Battle of Endor, the fight which brought down the Empire, in Return of the Jedi.

As expected, Real Fake History employs the use of talking heads to give some perspective to the fake history being recapped. In this case, a couple of rebel soldiers who were also inside the Millennium Falcon with General Lando Calrissian and co-pilot Nien Nunb. As you can see, it wasn't easy-going for these two soldiers, since they were unable to speak Sullustan, and thus unable to understand anything Nunb was saying during the battle.
While I like the idea of getting the everyman perspective of people involved in the battle who weren't our brave, main heroes like Han Solo, Princess Leia or Luke Skywalker, I can't help but think this would be a little funnier if it were in the hands of people at Funny or Die. Still, it's a pretty amusing piece of work, and it gets the job done.
There will be a new episode of Real Fake History every week for the next nine weeks, so stay tuned for recaps of The Battle of New York City from The Avengers, Disaster on Klendathu from Starship Troopers and The Battle of Castle Black from Game of Thrones. We'll be posting new episodes of Real Fake History as they become available so stay tuned for more.
