New 'Lion King' Soundtrack Will Feature 30 Minutes Of Unreleased Music
2014 is a big year for Disney anniversaries. Strictly looking at the movies it's the 55th anniversary of Sleeping Beauty, the 50th anniversary of Mary Poppins, the 25th anniversary of The Little Mermaid, and the 20th anniversary of The Lion King. That last one has been chosen to kick off a new musical event called The Legacy Collection.
Over the next two years, Disney will rerelease the soundtracks to a dozen classic films as part of The Legacy Collection, each featuring new liner notes, documentaries, artwork and previously unreleased music. The Lion King is out first, and no available for pre-order, followed by the others mentioned above this year and Fantasia, Pinocchio, Toy Story, Lady and the Tramp, Pocahontas, The Aristocats and Cinderella next year. Read more about the Lion King Legacy Collection and see the full schedule below.
The Lion King Legacy Collection, with 30 minutes of new music, will be released June 24 and can be preordered here. Here's the track breakdown via D23.
