Dayo Okeniyi Of 'The Hunger Games' Joins 'Terminator: Genesis'

Not long ago there was chatter about John Boyega (Attack the Block) being eyed to join Terminator: Genesis. He would have played the son of Terminator 2 character Miles Dyson. But things have changed. Now Dayo Okeniyi, recently seen playing Thresh in The Hunger Games, will take the role. That firms up the major Terminator cast.

But there's a second side to the story. One roadblock between Boyega and Terminator: Genesis was the possibility that he would appear in Star Wars Episode VII. He couldn't do both. So can we take this info about Okeniyi's casting to indicate that Boyega is locked for Star Wars, or at least getting closer?

The first info about Boyega's flirtation with Terminator came from Borys Kit:

The question is, with Okeniyi set for Terminator, can we expect that Boyega is really set for Star Wars? It's a great idea. But LucasFilm and Disney have been very slow to officially confirm any casting for JJ Abrams' new Star Wars film. We can probably expect one big reveal of the cast as a whole, and it isn't likely to happen soon.

Terminator: Genesis, meanwhile, also features Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, and Jason Clarke, under the direction of Alan Taylor. Arnold Schwarzenegger is also reprising his role. We can expect to see a few situations from Terminator and Terminator 2 to be revisited. Schwarzenegger's own comments have indicated as much. He has explained that we'll see him in multiple guises, or as multiple versions of the T-800. And casting the son of a character who was seen (and killed) in T2 further increases our curiosity about how this new film relates to previous movies in the series. Terminator: Genesis is meant to be the first installment in a new trilogy. [Variety]
