Bryan Cranston Open To Playing Lex Luthor In 'Batman Vs. Superman'

With LexCorp logos all over Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, it's a pretty safe bet Lex Luthor will play a role in the film's sequel. That sequel, we now know, will feature Batman and is likely going to be called Batman vs. Superman. Several actors have been mentioned as possibly being up for the role of the evil genius, including Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston and in a new interview, Cranston suggested he was open to playing the role.

Note: This news was first mentioned in Superhero Bits earlier on Tuesday, but we've since decided to expand on it.

The quote came from an interview Cranston did with Metro. When asked about the possibility of playing the role, Cranston said the following:

Give me a call. I like Lex Luthor. I think he's misunderstood. He's a loveable, sweet man.

The Metro piece said Cranston was smiling when he said this, and that he also had a hint of familiarity. Like he's maybe been thinking about the role.

So here's my question. Obviously, Cranston could pull off Lex Luthor. But would Lex Luthor, such an important villain in the Superman mythos, fit in a movie where Superman has to fight, and eventually team up with, Batman? Certainly Luthor has the resources to turn the superheroes against each other, and then be formidable enough for them to necessitate a team up. But is it too much in one film?
