'To The Wonder' Trailer: It's A Terrence Malick Movie, All Right

It took Terrence Malick three decades to release his first four features, but since 2011's Tree of Life he's been on a roll. He has four more films due out in the next few years, the first of which will be April's To the Wonder.

We've already seen a couple of images from the film, but our best look yet comes in the form of this new trailer. It's pretty much what you'd expect: a voiceover ruminating on love, meaningful shots of nature and lots of graceful frolicking. Olga KurylenkoBen AffleckRachel McAdams, and Javier Bardem star. Watch the video after the jump.

It's a gorgeously crafted trailer, highlighting some truly stunning cinematography by Emmanuel Lubezki and tender moments among the central quartet. Critical response to the film itself, however, has been pretty mixed coming off of the festival circuit.

If you found Tree of Life too weird and abstract, odds are To the Wonder won't be for you, either. This is the film that Affleck half-jokingly said "makes Tree of Life look like Transformers," and that THR promised would "separate the men from the boys when it comes to die-hard allegiance to all things Terrence Malick." Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing depends, of course, on just how far you're willing to follow Malick.

To the Wonder opens in the U.S. on April 12.
