David Fincher's 'House Of Cards' Hits Netflix February 1; Check Out The Bloody New Poster
David Fincher doesn't have any theatrical releases coming up in the near future, but fans looking their fix can turn to the small screen early next year. The filmmaker is making his first foray into television with Netflix's House of Cards, a remake of the 1990 BBC political drama, directing two of the first season's 13 episodes and serving as executive producer.
While we've known for sometime that it would hit sometime next year, Netflix has finally given it a firm release date — as well as a striking new poster to go with it. Read more and check out the image after the jump.
The series stars Kevin Spacey as Francis Underwood, the House of Representative's majority whip. Sharp and charismatic but unapologetically ruthless, he and his equally ambitious wife Claire (Robin Wright) will stop at nothing to climb the ranks in Washington, D.C. Kate Mara, Michael Kelly, Kristen Connolly, Corey Stoll, and Sakina Jaffrey also star.
House of Cards is part of Netflix's move toward more original programming, which started with this year's Lilyhammer but is ramping up in a big way next year. Other original series expected to debut on the streaming service in 2013 include Season 4 of Arrested Development, Eli Roth's Hemlock Grove, Jenji Kohan's Orange is the New Black, and Ricky Gervais' Derek, but House of Cards is the first to set a date.
