Paddy Considine Reteams With Edgar Wright For 'The World's End'

Another familiar face will be joining Simon Pegg and Nick Frost for Edgar Wright's latest film, The World's End. Paddy Considine, who appeared in the trio's last film Hot Fuzz and is best known for roles in The Bourne Ultimatum and In America, has just been cast in the "sci-fi comedy" scheduled for release Spring 2013. Read more about his role and the film the jump.

Variety broke the news of the casting, and also confirmed what we'd previously reported, that Rosamund Pike will join the boys for the spiritual sequel to Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. The World's End follows a group of friends who reunite for a bar-hopping drinking marathon that ends at the bar the film is named after. Pegg and Frost are two of the group, Pike is Pegg's love interest and Considine will be another of the friends described as "a former ladies man and musician who has grown up to be a divorced architect."

Very little is know about the film outside of its bar hopping structure, and now some casting, but quotes from Wright and others suggest it might evolve into some sort of alien invasion film. Here's the official plot synopsis for the highly anticipated movie:

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World's End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind's. Reaching The World's End is the least of their worries.
