The Extra 'Scene' Shot For 'The Avengers' Finally Revealed

You might know the story: the day after the world premiere of The Avengers, Robert Downey Jr. let the cat out of the bag that everyone would be filming one additional scene. Director Joss Whedon and producer Kevin Feige initially denied it and later retracted that statement. Since the film was already complete, including a post-credits scene, speculation ran rampant as to what could possibly be added to the film. Feige created more speculation with the statements that "It was not a scene" and "It's not a big thing."

It seems the new addition has been made, it is at the very end of the credits, and we've got the description below.

The information came from two places. First, film blogger Chris Campbell:

There's your confirmation.

Then over at Superhero Hype, one of their forum users actually dropped the description. Here's where, if you want to be surprised, you should go away because it's a spoiler. But not a plot spoiler. You'll see what I mean.

SPOILERS FOLLOW

After the battle, the Avengers team sitting quietly with no dialogue eating shawarma. Stark was not in his suit. Banner wasn't Hulked out.

If you've seen The Avengers (and if you're reading this, you probably have) you'll likely agree this is almost too simple and perfect. A really funny reference back to a joke Tony Stark makes twice in the movie and a great note to leave the theater on. Feige was technically telling the truth too."It's not a scene." It's just a single shot.

Am I a tad disappointed we don't see something major that will throw off the entire balance of the Marvel Universe? Sure. But the first credit scene already does that, doesn't it? If that hadn't been spoiled months and months ago, no one would be shutting up about how that scene will play out in all the other movies that are coming. Thankfully, now we can go back to that.

The scene should start appearing with the film at midnight tomorrow when it opens.

Are you surprised this is the scene? Do you think it'll play funny?
