Will Ferrell Sings About Not Knowing Things In "Yo No Se" Music Video For 'Casa De Mi Padre'

Compared to that other comedy opening next weekend, Jonah Hill's 21 Jump Street, Will Ferrell's telenovela-inspired Casa de mi Padre has gone pretty light on the marketing. All Casa de mi Padre has put out so far are a couple of brief teasers and a single full-length trailer released back in January. But what we have seen suggests a certain absurd tone, halfway between earnest homage and tongue-in-cheek parody, that looks very funny indeed. This new music video featuring Ferrell's vocal stylings — en Español, por supuesto — is no exception. Watch the video after the jump.

It's silly, sure, but I have to give them credit for crafting a legitimately catchy song with "Yo no se." It easily displaced the Game of Thrones theme that's has been stuck in my head for hours. So thanks, Ferrell & co. The video also highlights the easily overlooked fact that Ferrell's actually got quite a pleasant singing voice. There's no way Armando Alvarez' trumpet will ever top Ron Burgundy's jazz flute, though.

Directed by Matt Piedmont and written by Andrew Steele, both of Saturday Night Live, Casa de mi Padre opens next Friday, March 16. Diego Luna, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Genesis Rodriguez also star.

Synopsis:

Armando Alvarez (Will Ferrell) has lived and worked on his father's ranch in Mexico his entire life. As the ranch faces financial strains, Armando's younger brother Raul (Diego Luna) shows up with his new fiancee, Sonia (Genesis Rodriguez) and pledges to settle all his father's debts. It seems that Raul's success as an international businessman means the ranch's troubles are over, but when Armando falls for Sonia, and Raul's business dealings turn out to be less than legit, the Alvarez family finds themselves in a full-out war with Mexico's most feared drug lord, the mighty Onza (Gael Garcia Bernal).
