Robbie Pickering To Direct Vampire / Zombie / Alien Pic 'The Kitchen Sink'

With zombies, vampires, and aliens all hot in Hollywood right now, why pick one supernatural creature when you can have all three? That seems to be the reasoning behind The Kitchen Sink, a 2010 Black List script that pits humans, zombies, and vampires against an alien invasion. Jonah Hill was in talks to make his directorial debut with the film back in March, but he's since departed, and now indie director Robbie Pickering is set to take over at the helm. More details after the jump.

Pickering is a fairly fresh face as well. The Kitchen Sink will be his second feature, after his his debut comedy Natural Selection, which he also wrote. While I haven't seen Natural Selection myself, it seems to be very well regarded. The film won the audience and jury awards for Best Narrative Feature at last year's SXSW, as well as Best Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Score/Music, and Breakthrough Performance. In addition, it was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature, though it lost to Aaron Schneider's Get Low.

The Kitchen Sink is set up at Sony Pictures, with Matt Tolmach (The Amazing Spider-Man) on board to produce. No start date or cast has been announced at this time.
