See A Clip From Pixar's New Short 'La Luna'

We've showed you an image, logo and poster for the new Pixar short La Luna, which premiered at the Annecy festival this week. Now here's a clip from the Enrico Casarosa-directed short about a young boy who, one night, is introduced to the family business. Check it out below.

Looks like a gorgeous piece of work. Sure, there's still the resemblance between the father character here and the dad in Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, but I can live with that. Especially as the animation looks great, the overall aesthetic is lovely, and that snippet of score promises a beautiful envelope of sound wrapped around the whole story. And that moonrise? Just beautiful.

Here's the synopsis once more:

La Luna is the timeless fable of a young boy who is coming of age in the most peculiar of circumstances. Tonight is the very first time his Papa and Grandpa are taking him to work. In an old wooden boat they row far out to sea, and with no land in sight, they stop and wait.  A big surprise awaits the little boy as he discovers his family's most unusual line of work. Should he follow the example of his Papa, or his Grandpa? Will he be able to find his own way in the midst of their conflicting opinions and timeworn traditions?

Enrico Casarosa is also Head of Story; he's been with Pixar since 2002, starting on Cars, with credits following on Ratatouille and Up. Can we expect to see more Pixar work from him in the future? I certainly hope so. We'll see La Luna eventually; hopefully in front of Brave.
