Warner Bros. Will Release Steven Soderbergh's Male Stripper Movie 'Magic Mike' In June 2012

Briefly: Steven Soderbergh has already wrapped his movie Magic Mike, which stars Channing Tatum and is based on Tatum's own youthful experience as a male exotic dancer. Because Soderbergh works fast he's already got a cut of the film, and Warner Bros. has picked up the movie for distribution next summer. Magic Mike will hit theaters on June 29, 2012, when it will provide counter-programming against G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which also stars Tatum.Magic Mike stars Tatum as the title character, an experienced dancer who teaches a younger guy (Alex Pettyfer) the ways of the hustle on and off the stage. Matthew McConaughey plays the owner of the club in which they work, and Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Gabriel Igelsias, Olivia Munn, Riley Keough, Betsy Brandt, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Cody Horn are all in the Reid Carolin-penned film. Or, hell, with all the shirtless guys in this one and the fantasy military action likely to be seen in G.I. Joe, this might just make for the perfect double-feature for any audience that has a taste for Channing Tatum's particular variety of beefcake. [Variety]
