/Film LA: 'Tron' In 70mm, Arclight iPhone App, 'Star Tours 2' Date Set
Attempting to keep up with all the film events in Los Angeles is an exercise in futility. There's simply too much going on all at once, all over town. But every once in a while a few pieces of news hit at once and that's why we created /Film LA. Here's what we've got.
Read details about all of this and more after the jump.
First up, the Aero Theater in Santa Monica will play the original Tron in 70mm at 7:30 p.m. March 5. In person will be as follows: "writer-director Steven Lisberger, visual effects supervisors Richard Taylor and Harrison Ellenshaw, director of photography Bruce Logan, A.S.C., VFX computer animator Bill Kroyer and VFX crew member John Scheele." You can read more about the event and buy tickets by clicking here.
Second, while I don't have an iPhone, I do frequent the Arclight Cinemas here in Los Angeles (in fact, I think I'm close to becoming FourSquare mayor in Hollywood – watch out!). It's the best theater in town with immaculate screens sound, seating, ticketing and more. And now you can buy your tickets, and even choose your seats online. Then just scan your phone at the theater and you're all set. If you live near any of the Arclight Cinemas, this is a must have. You can download it in the iTunes Store by searching "Arclight" or clicking here.
Third, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue might open in Florida on May 20, but we only have to wait a few more days as it'll open on June 3 in Anaheim. Also opening that day is The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure. We've been covering the Star Tours ride pretty regularly so click here for all the updates. For more information on Ariel, check out Stitch Kingdom.
Finally, Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is playing at the New Beverly March 27-April 2. Russ wrote all about it here.
