Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's Role Confirmed For Transformers 3 - Sam Witwicky's Future Wife?
NO PHOTOS
We've known for a couple months now that Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley would be taking over as the love interest for the third entry of Michael Bay's Transformers series, and have even got a few glimpses at her showing off her assets on set. But there still hasn't been any explanation as to what her place in the film would be, or if her cleavage's screen time would be able to compete with that of Megan Fox.
Finally, we have a little bit of insight into what character she'll be playing. No word on the cleavage yet though. Learn more about Whiteley's character's affiliation with the Transformers mythology after the break.
According to Transformers World, Whiteley will be playing the role of Carly, who JoBlo.com has noted is a character from the Transformers animated series that eventually becomes Sam Witwicky's wife. Does this mean we'll be seeing Whiteley and Shia LaBeouf tying the knot at the end of Transformers 3? It's definitely a possibility, seeing as how Michael Bay has stated that this third film will complete the trilogy. Unless he breaks his word (or has another director come on board to finalize their relationship), this is his only shot to make Sam a married man.
Strangely, we still haven't learned how Megan Fox's character was written out of the film, or how the changes affected Carly's involvement in it. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura weighed in on the matter with Coming Soon, but was vague on specifics:
Definitely some script changes for sure. I wouldn't say a tremendous number, but yeah, absolutely there were some changes, and I think as we're going along, we're discovering new ones we have to make as a result of them.
It probably doesn't matter, really. The Transformers films have never been known for their thoughtful character work, so even if Whiteley and LaBeouf merely exchanged googly eyes with one another for the entire film, it still wouldn't feel too out of place for them to get married at the end. I'd venture a guess that's what the original ending was anyway, with Sam and Mikaela (Fox's character) sending off their latest explosive robot battle with an impromptu wedding, a la Independence Day.
What do you guys think? Does Rosie Huntington-Whiteley look like marital material to you?
