Taken Director Pierre Morel Signs On For Paranoia Thriller, Signals

I've been a fan of Pierre Morrel ever since his French parkour action film District B13 floored me back in 2005. The film was certainly imperfect, but looking at it purely as an action film you could tell that Morrel was someone to watch out for in the future. Several years later, he reminded us that Liam Neeson can still kick ass in Taken, and he's currently putting the finishing touches on his latest, From Paris with Love. We've also previously reported on two other projects he's working on.  Now he's signed on for another feature, a paranoia thriller entitled Signals.

I'm glad Taken did so well for him, and that his frequent collaborator Louis Leterrier is also doing so well in Hollywood. Morel was the cinematographer on The Transporter (which Leterrier co-directed with Corey Yuen, despite what IMDB says) and Unleashed (my favorite English-language Jet Li film). Leterrier also went on to make Transporter 2, 2008's Incredible Hulk, and he's working on the upcoming Clash of the Titans.

I'm not sure what they're putting in the drinking water in France, but it's led to some of the best modern talents in action film making. If you're a fan of action, you owe it to yourself to check out their previous works, if you haven't yet.
