New Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun-Li Clips Unleash A Hurricane Kick Of Suck To Your Face

This morning, an e-mail about Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li hit my inbox: "Please note, STREET FIGHTER: THE LEGUND OF CHUN-LI will not be screening for press." While this added fuel onto an already considerable fire of bad buzz surrounding this film, I was still willing to hold out a modicum of hope. Neal McDonough is, after all, one of my favorite actors, and while I'm no Smallville fan, I've heard nothing but good things about Kristen Kreuk from my male colleagues. Director Andrzej Bartkowiak has also shown that he can do half-decent action.

Then I saw  8 clips from the film that Movieweb IGN posted. Hit the jump to see some of the clips, and for some brief thoughts.

The first thing you'll notice about these clips is that the sound editing is absolutely terrible, making the film sound worse than a direct-to-DVD movie (Hopefully this won't be the final mix that is used in the film, but if it is, God help them...). [Videos now display clips with finished sound]. The second thing you'll notice is that the amount of sheer awfulness contained within these clips is enough to make Raul Julia spin in his grave.

Let's start with this exchange between Moon Bloodgood and Chris Klein (with some McDonough fighting for good measure). While I think we can all agree that Klein puts in the performance of his career here, everything else about this scene reeks of "low-budget action porn film":

And here's a clip that shows the titular character kicking some ass against what are apparently some of the stupidest henchmen in movie history:

As I was watching the clips, it actually pained me to see Michael Clark Duncan subject himself to this. In fact, I don't think anyone involved in this production will emerge unscathed. Go to IGN to check out the rest of the clips, but don't say I didn't warn you.

Discuss: Do these clips make you more or less excited for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li?
