Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool Played Major Part In Wolverine Reshoots?
News of Wolverine reshoots the other day set off a firestorm of speculation about whether they meant good or bad news for the new Fox comic book film. Things got so intense that Hugh Jackman himself fired off an e-mail to quell the Fox-hating battle tide. From IESB, We're now learning at least one of the major reasons behind the reshoots: Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool character.
According to a user on the site, "most of the footage shot included Reynolds and Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman," and Reynolds' appearance will be significantly more than a cameo. This implies that at least some of the reshoots went to doing significant character work; whether you interpret that as good or bad, I leave up to you.
According to Deadpool's Wikipedia entry, "Like the X-Men's Wolverine, Deadpool is the product of the Canadian government's paramilitary Weapon X program, although his place of birth is unknown. After Weapon X cured his terminal cancer by implementing a regenerative 'healing factor' extracted from Wolverine, Deadpool is left disfigured and mentally unstable." Reynolds is reportedly obsessed with the character, hoping for a spin-off based on the success of Wolverine. While publicity photos have shown Reynolds portraying Deadpool sans-iconic mask, it's already been hinted that the Wolverine film will somehow depict his disfigurement.
Discuss: Any Deadpool fans out there? If so, are you happy knowing that he'll play a larger part in the upcoming Wolverine film?
