Will The Economy Affect Moviegoing Attendance?

Despite concerns of an economic slowdown, a new study shows that regular filmgoers have no plans to cut back on trips to the local multiplex. The NPD group found that about 80% of people who see films at least every three weeks plan on attending the cinema as often, if not more often, than they have in the past. About 72 percent of those who are planing to visit the multiplex more often say the top reason for going to the movies is for the social experience. And about 48 percent said that they go to the cinema for the overall movie theater experience (big screen, sound system, 3D, etc) which can't be topped in the home theater.
