An Inconvenient Sequel

Al Gore‘s documentary sequel An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to plenty of acclaim, despite the depressing subject material focusing on the continued threat that global warming poses to our planet, especially coastal cities and countries. Now we have word that the film will arrive a little bit later than expected.

An Inconvenient Sequel had been slated for a wide release on July 28, but now that wide release has been pushed back to August 4. It’s only a week delay, but with two months left before the film hits theaters and headlines today revealing Donald Trump’s plan to pull back out of the Paris climate accords, will the movie be updated with new details? 2017 summer movie preview

The summer season is almost upon us and you know what that means: movies are about to get bigger, louder, and more expensive. And, if we’re lucky, they’ll also be pretty great!

The /Film team examined the list of every single major wide release (our indie and streaming preview arrives next week) hitting theaters this summer and argued, debated, and occasionally agreed on which 25 movies we’re most looking forward to watching over the coming months. The staff then voted, ranking them from “movies we want to see” to “movies we want to see right now.” So here’s our 2017 summer movie preview, which features superheroes, evil dolls, talking cars, pirates, sharks, dead strippers, World War II, and so much more.

AN INCONVENIENT SEQUEL TRUTH TO POWER

An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power is bound to the be the 2017 movie that many audiences willfully choose to ignore. The same thing happened with 2006’s Oscar-winning An Inconvenient Truth – too many people simply don’t want to acknowledge or accept responsibility for certain catastrophes that are just over the horizon. An Inconvenient Sequel Clip

One of the films that kicked off the first night of the 2017 Sundance Film Festival was An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power, a follow-up to former vice president Al Gore‘s 2006 documentary An Inconvenient Truth. The film is another wake up call for climate change deniers who keep hitting the snooze button while the evidence of global warming is all around them.

The first clip from An Inconvenient Sequel has been released (to go hand-in-hand with all the positive buzz), and it references one of the highly criticized parts from the original film. One prediction from An Inconvenient Truth dealt with flooding in downtown New York City, right into the 9/11 memorial, and many thought that sounded ridiculous. But it wasn’t.
