10 cloverfield lane ending

The sci-fi thriller 10 Cloverfield Lane has been in theaters for nearly a month now, and if you haven’t seen the movie, you’re missing out on one of the most riveting, suspenseful flicks of the decade. A big part of what makes the movie so captivating is that it keeps you guessing the whole way through. You never really know what’s happening or whom to trust until the very end of the movie. Which is why some new marketing materials from overseas are a bit frustrating.

The international marketing campaign for 10 Cloverfield Lane apparently doesn’t care about keeping the mystery intact and somewhat misleads the audience as far as the film’s story is concerned. A new trailer and poster for the film’s forthcoming release in Thailand completely ruins the 10 Cloverfield Lane ending. Find out how after the jump, but obviously, beware of spoilers. Read More »

Cool Posts From Around the Web:

Cannibal Airlines

When the first teaser trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane was released, many people noticed that John Gallagher Jr.‘s character Emmet was looking at a VHS tape of a fake movie called Cannibal Airlines. It’s one of those fun little details that sent many fans on a hunt to find out what it may mean, or if whether it’s somehow connected to the film’s ARG (it wasn’t). When I talked to 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg last week, I found out the story behind the movie within the movie. And you might be surprised to learn that the VHS tape came from the mind of the man who is currently directing The Lego Movie 2.

10 Cloverfield Lane opened this weekend to an estimated $25.2 million domestically, which a huge success considering the film’s low-budget price tag. So fans are already wondering if Bad Robot could end up giving the film a proper sequel. When I chatted with 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg late last week, I talked to him about the possibility of a 10 Cloverfield Lane sequel.

And everyone is wondering what the filmmaker might be doing next, so we spoke a little bit about that. We learned about his time travel heist film Crime of the Century which is being developed at Universal, and also about what happened to the Y: The Last Man movie and what his film version of the comic book series might have been.

10 Cloverfield Lane spoilers discussion

Two months ago, it was revealed Dan Trachtenberg‘s directorial debut was a “spiritual” sequel to Cloverfield. The audience I saw 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi with were left both confused and excited by the trailer‘s title card. The question all along — well, actually just for the past two months — has been: how much of a sequel is this movie? Now we know. Kind of.

Please note that spoilers are encouraged in the comments section for this post. If you have not seen 10 Cloverfield Lane, we encourage you to return once you have.

FINAL WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD AND IN THE COMMENTS.

10 cloverfield lane viral marketing

When the trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane was unleashed, everyone was wondering how JJ Abrams somehow snuck a new Cloverfield movie into production without anyone noticing. Later the mega producer set the record straight confirming that the film was not a sequel, not Cloverfield 2, but a blood relative that shares some thematic and genre connections, but functions as an anthology film which isn part a larger idea (that may involve more Cloverfield movies).

Then came rumors (originating on reddit) that the film was actually a low budget contained thriller that’s slapped with a Cloverfield title as an afterthought and that director Dan Trachtenberg and crew went back to reshoot a different ending for the film which would connect it to Matt Reeves‘ original film Cloverfield. I can now confirm on the record this is just not true.

I interviewed 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg this afternoon and he revealed the origins of the project, how an Academy Award-nominated writer/director almost made the movie before he got involved and puts some of the internet rumors to bed.

Note: the following story contains NO spoilers for 10 Cloverfield Lane beyond whats seen in the first trailer. So feel free to read it before you see the movie.
