The nominations for the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning, and with so many TV shows out there for us to binge, there were bound to be some snubs. But thankfully, along with some of the TV shows and talents that didn’t get recognized by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, there were also some surprises that we weren’t expecting to land nominations.

Kyle MacLachlan was on a Television Critics Association panel for the upcoming final season of Portlandia with Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein. After the panel, /Film was able to ask him about coming back to Twin Peaks: The Return, including his initial reaction to the character of Dougie. If you have yet to witness David Lynch‘s stunning, unclassifiable Twin Peaks: The Return, here’s some good news: New York City’s Museum of Modern Art is going to screen the full 18 hours of the limited event series for free. It’s part of a series on “the year’s finest films,” a classification that will likely reignite the never-resolved TV vs. Film argument that’s surrounded the revival.
