It’s the holiday season, and that means National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is airing pretty much once a day, everyday until Christmas Day rolls around. This year it might be getting even more airplay since it marks the 30th anniversary of what some say is the high point of the entire Vacation franchise.
To celebrate the milestone anniversary of Christmas Vacation, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hosted a screening of the movie with a Q&A afterwards featuring cast members Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Juliette Lewis, Johnny Galecki, and Diane Ladd. Thankfully, they’ve provided some of the highlights for all of us who couldn’t be at the screening. Read More »
One of the most-watched movies of any holiday season is undoubtedly National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. People just can’t get enough of seeing a dysfunctional family try to make it through the holidays, probably because it makes it a little easier to deal with their own family problems. And soon enough, they may be able to see The Griswolds more often, at least if they have HBO Max.
WarnerMedia’s new streaming service has announced a new half-hour comedy series called The Griswolds, based on the Vacation franchise that started with National Lampoon’s Vacation in 1983. But will it bring back any of the Vacation franchise cast members for the series or not? Read More »

Later this month, America’s favorite blue collar family from the ’90s is returning for a new round of episodes. The Connors were a groundbreaking sitcom family going through the trials and tribulations of middle class life in ABC’s series Roseanne. The series became famous for tackling issues that other sitcoms never touched, and they’re about to do it all over again.
A revival of Roseanne is coming to ABC at the end of March, and all of the original cast members are returning for more family shenanigans. Roseanne Barr (Roseanne), John Goodman (Dan), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Michael Fishman (DJ) and Lecy Goranson (Becky) are all reprising their roles from the original series, and the first Roseanne reboot trailer with new footage from the show debuted during the Oscars last night. Do The Connors still have it? Read More »
Rings‘ release date has been kicked around more times than a soccer ball. Okay, maybe not that many times, but four delays is telling. Originally scheduled to open in the fall of 2015, the sequel then got moved to spring 2016, and then it got bumped back again to the autumn of 2016. That last release date didn’t work out, either, so director F. Javier Guitérrez‘s horror film is finally coming out this Friday. Days before Rings hits theaters its heavily promoted plane sequence has made its way online.
Below, watch the first three minutes of Rings.

This trailer for CBGB, which dramatizes the history of the NYC club that was the birthplace of new wave and punk in America, makes a lot of noise about the fact that the club’s bathroom (above) was famously gross. In fact, after the club closed, parts of that bathroom and other elements of the joint were actually disassembled and worked into the sets used for the movie.
And yet the footage itself looks like a squeaky clean recreation of the house where bands like Blondie, the Talking Heads and the Ramones built their careers.
Kids deserve to know about the roots of punk rock in the US, and there’s nothing really wrong with a bunch of people playing dress-up as the biggest figures of the NYC new wave and punk scene. But it’s pretty funny. Watch the footage below and you’ll see Alan Rickman as Hilly Kristal, who opened the iconic club in ’73, Donal Logue as his compatriot, and Malin Akerman, Rupert Grint, Ashley Greene, Johnny Galecki, Ryan Hurst, Justin Bartha and Bradley Whitford as members of Talking Heads, Blondie, The Ramones, Dead Boys, The Police, Iggy Pop and Patti Smith Group. Cool Posts From Around the Web:
Andrew Niccol‘s new film In Time posits a world in which the only currency is time: every individual has a body clock which, after 25 years, constantly counts down to death. Anyone can earn or steal more time, and without that wealth, it is game over. The extended trailer we saw at Comic Con made the film look like a bit like Gattaca infused with a pulp noir sensibility. The film might be a smart thriller that uses sci-fi tropes to critique a youth-obsessed popular culture; or it might just be a silly chase thriller. Difficult to tell right now. But there is a new, shorter trailer; one that gives a bit more time to Olivia Wilde, who plays the mother of central figure Justin Timberlake. Check it out below.

In her first big hire since Michael Bay decided not to ask her to return for Transformers 3, Megan Fox has scored a new gig. She’ll be in Jennifer Westfeldt‘s film Friends With Kids, which stars Westfeldt’s partner Jon Hamm.
The film also features Adam Scott and Kristen Wiig, and we now know that it “revolves around a pair of thirtysomething best friends who observe the toll that having kids has taken on the couples they know and resolve to bypass that stress by having a child and then date other people.” Adam Scott and Jennifer Westfeldt will be one couple, Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig another, and Megan Fox will be a woman Mr. Scott’s character dates.
After the break, Andrew Niccol’s next gets another cast member, and Mr. Popper’s Penguins gets two. Read More »
