Even if you’ve never read Frank Herbert’s 1965 science fiction classic Dune, you likely know that it involves giant sandworms. The image of those colossal beasts bursting out of the ground has transcended that story and spread across pop culture, referenced in films as varied as Star Wars, Tremors, and Beetlejuice. Now director Denis Villeneuve has created his own version of the alien creatures for his forthcoming movie adaptation. Empire Magazine has released a batch of Dune-related covers for its newest issue, and while two of them feature the cast in all of their sci-fi costume glory, one of them gives us our first look at Villeneuve’s vision for those huge Dune sandworms. Avengers Infinity War poster

If you’ve paid attention to studio-produced movie posters over the past couple of decades, you’ve probably noticed that many of them are hideous images that are basically Photoshopped to oblivion. While Marvel Studios tends to make enjoyable, crowd-pleasing movies, the studio is often one of the worst offenders when it comes to creating posters. For a movie with as many characters as Avengers: Infinity War, it was practically a given that the poster would be overcrowded and kind of an eyesore – but we didn’t expect it to have an easily-preventable error in plain sight.

Joshua Budich - Empire

You may have noticed the upcoming issue of Empire Magazine Australia has a pretty unique and awesome cover. It’s an illustration of several popular and influential filmmakers, next to images from their films, all to commemorate a special “Director’s Cut” issue. Filmmakers such as Steven Spielberg, David Fincher, Joss Whedon, Francis Ford Coppola, Sofia Coppola, Michael Mann, David Lynch, John Woo, Danny Boyle, Guillermo del Toro and others contributed content to the issue, so a special cover was made.
