It’s been one years since Avengers: Endgame hit theaters last year, wrapping up the epic cliffhanger ending offered up by Avengers: Infinity War. In honor of the anniversary, Mondo is giving the back-to-back Marvel Cinematic Universe sequels an incredible vinyl soundtrack with Alan Silvestri‘s scores spread across six total records matching the six different colors of the Infinity Stones. Thankfully, the non-existent war between Steven Spielberg and Netflix is over before it really began. That means we can get back to burning money by buying collectible art, enamel pins and t-shirts inspired by the legendary filmmaker’s movies.
This week we have an entire slate of new prints from Karl Fitzgerald honoring the entire Indiana Jones trilogy. Plus, Mondo has a whole batch of new Jurassic Park goodies, including a new print by Matthew Woodsman, enamel pins by Scott C., and an awesome t-shirt designed by Bruce Yan. Check out the new Indiana Jones trilogy prints and all the Jurassic Park paraphernalia below. Read More »
WonderCon kicks off Friday for three days of comic convention madness. Movie wise, there isn’t a ton going on, but there’s always fun to be had and lots of exclusive merchandise to covet. One of our favorite spots at WonderCon is the Hero Complex Gallery booth. They always have beautiful prints that are only available at WonderCon and this year is no different. We’ve already shown you a few of them, a Batman series by Casey Callendar, but today we’ve got even more. Spider-Man, Wall-E, Watchmen, Star Wars, it’s a pretty solid cross section of cool stuff.
Plus, right now, you can get an officially licensed Mad Men poster from the gallery, by Milton Glaser, celebrating the final episodes that start this weekend. See all the WonderCon exclusives and more below. Read More »
Most of the time, art galleries do either group shows with a single theme or one artist’s complete vision. The latest exhibit at the Hero Complex Gallery in Los Angeles is a bit of both. The Young Guns of Print features the work of 18 individual up and coming artists, each of whom did two to fifteen pieces on a specific theme. That means instead of one cool piece for a film or filmmaker you like, you get multiple takes by artists who are still being established. Some examples of theme are superheroes, Tim Burton; the guns of Harrison Ford; Los Angeles; Harry Potter; and Lord of the Rings.
The exhibit opens Friday September 20 in Los Angeles and will go online Saturday September 21. Below, check out a sampling of work including an amazing series of Cloud Atlas posters by Paul Shipper. Read More »
Glow in the dark inks on a poster can be hit or miss. In the best cases, they act as almost a night light, revealing a beautiful second image that’s invisible in the day time. On the other hand, some are so subtle and light, it’s almost as if they don’t glow in the dark at all. And maybe that’s a good thing.
The Bottleneck Gallery in Brooklyn, NY will surely have a little of both in their latest exhibit, When The Lights Go Out, which opens April 12. Over 60 artists have made brand new pieces with glow in the dark inks, which will be displayed at all hours via a new installation of blacklights.
Some of the topics of the art include 2001: A Space Odyssey (above), The Shawshank Redemption, Alien, Game of Thrones, Band of Brothers, Where the Wild Things Are, Tron, Poltergeist, Time Bandits and more. It looks like a very fun show. Check out a selection of art below.
