Olivia Wilde Joins Andrew Niccol's Next...As Justin Timberlake's Mother

How unusual will Andrew Niccol's new sci-fi film be? How about this: the picture, formerly called I'm.mortal and now untitled for the time being, not only boasts Vincent Kartheiser as the father of Amanda Seyfried, but now has Olivia Wilde playing the mother of Justin Timberlake. What's going on here?

We've run a bit of info on the film, but the key component is that the story has a Logan's Run-like setup: people age until they hit 25, at which point they need to 'buy' more time to continue to age. Rich folk get to be essentially immortal, while everyone else has to scrabble out a living.

We've been left to ponder just how the mechanics of that plot setup would play out, but knowing that Wilde and Kartheiser will play parents to Seyfried and Timberlake suggests the obvious solution: the rich get to keep on looking 25 even as they age on into later years.

EW says that Wilde has been Niccol's top choice for this role, but her increasingly busy schedule made it a dicey proposition for a while. But she's in now, rounding out what has turned into quite a cast.

To recap: Justin Timberlake is Will, a "rebel from the ghetto" accused of murdering a wealthy man for the time he owns. He takes a girl hostage (Amanda Seyfried) and goes on the run, battling against the sociey that enforces time as currency. Chasing them are Cillian Murphy and Collins Pennie. [The Wrap]
