'Guardians Of The Galaxy' Will Likely Be Marvel's Second 2014 Movie

Earlier this week, Marvel Studios was caught purchasing domain names for all kinds of merchandise related to Guardians of the Galaxy, a property that everyone from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige all the way down has admitted was in the works. They'veĀ even admitted the credits scene of The Avengers was a tease towards that film but nothing had been made official. That will likely be the company line until San Diego Comic-Con but Latino Review is exclusively reporting that Guardians of the Galaxy will, in fact, be Marvel's second 2014 movie.

They have a ton of other information too. Read about it below.

Disney, which owns Marvel, gave us the expected "no comment" about the story but we know that Latino Review has been a great source of Marvel news in the past so let's trust them for now. (Edit: Variety and THR have picked up on the story, too, and while neither offers official Marvel confirmation, each claims its own sources to help confirm.)

According to the LR story, the film will be set in the future and feature the team fighting an evil race called the Badoom. Then, at some point, they travel back in time and will likely cross paths with some of the Avengers we know and love.

The article says that Thanos will in fact be in the movie, it will be a direct precursor to 2015's The Avengers 2 and that "the script is incredible."

If all lays out as planned Iron Man 3 will be out May 3, 2013, Thor 2 will be out November 15, 2013, Captain America 2 is scheduled for April 4, 2014 and then Guardians of the Galaxy would hit May 16, 2014 before Avengers 2 in 2015.

Here's what Feige said in regards to the Guardians when I spoke to him a few months ago.

Well I mean look, I've always said that I love and would one day want to explore every aspect of the Marvel universe, with the street level heroes, the fantasy or cosmic with Thor, which really is a cosmic hero, period with Cap, magic some day with Social Supreme and some of those characters. But the Cosmic Universe is a big part of that and I love space movies and I love JJ's STAR TREK and can't believe there's another STAR TREK film being filmed right now, which is awesome, and obviously STAR WARS. So I certainly like the notion of exploring some of that. That will probably not be in another IRON MAN movie, because it doesn't make much sense. That will not be in another CAPTAIN movie. THOR does inhabit a certain part of that world and there are other characters and other properties that we've talked a little bit about, but haven't announced anything yet that will really bare fruit in that arena.

Is that the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY?

That's where a lot of that will really come to fruition....

Are you excited by this news? We'll likely have much more in a few weeks when Marvel hits the stage at Hall H at Comic Con.
