Box Office: 10,000 BC Up 9% Saturday For A Revised $34.5M 3-Day

Roland Emmerich's 10,000 B.C. (Warner Bros) received a better-than-expected 9% uptick in Saturday business, delivering an estimated $13.62M. Many were looking for a Friday-to-Saturday dip in ticket sales, but the badly-reviewed prehistoric epic wasn't especially front-loaded. With an anticipated 38% drop on Sunday, 10,000 B.C. should rake in another $8.44M or so for a 3-day take of $34.57M.

That opening weekend is about half of what last year's 300 grabbed which is certainly a disappointment for Warner Bros. The scathing reviews and almost-certain bad word-of-mouth will make it almost impossible for 10,000 B.C. to develop "legs." In fact, I expect the film to drop at least 60% next weekend.

Undoubtedly fueled by Raven Symone-loving tweens, College Road Trip (Disney) surged 81% for a $6.33M Saturday. The latest Martin Lawrence film should finish the weekend with about $13.63M.

Sony's Vantage Point added another $3.32M on Saturday, and the assassination thriller will likely wrap up the weekend with an estimated $7.29M. The tepidly-reviewed film will have banked $51.4M by Monday Morning.

The Bank Job (Lionsgate), starring action mainstay Jason Statham, finished a surprise 4th on Saturday with $2.46M, and it'll wind up #4 for the weekend as well, narrowly topping New Line's fast-fading Semi-Pro $5.84M-$5.64M.

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day  (Focus) picked up $1.07M on its 2nd day, and it's headed for a nifty $2.55M for the 3-day, a $4,744 per theatre average. Still, that's not enough to crack the Top 5 PTA performers.

The Counterfeiters (Sony Classics), the Oscar winner for Best Foreign Language Film, will finish the weekend with an estimated  $12,833 PTA. 10,000 B.C. had the 2nd-best weekend per theatre with just over $10,000. Warner Independent's Snow Angels with $6,104, Gus Van Sant's Paranoid Park (IFC Films) with $5,366 and Sony Classics offering The Band's Visit with $5,089 will likely round out the 3-day PTA Top 5.
