The Book of Boba Fett Has Arrived

The Disney+ Original Series "The Book of Boba Fett" has arrived. Directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by Jon Favreau, the premiere episode "Chapter 1: Stranger in a Strange Land" is now streaming, with subsequent installments of the seven-episode season premiering every Wednesday. After you watch the episode, be sure to check out /Film Daily for a spoiler-filled discussion with /Film editorial director Peter Sciretta, /Film editor Brad Oman and "Star Wars" nerd Bryan Young.

In related news, Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Göransson announced on Instagram that, while he composed the main theme, Joseph Shirley composed the rest of the series' original soundtrack. Shirley has been a frequent collaborator of Göransson's since "Creed" (2015). He was the score programmer in the first season of "The Mandalorian" and was in charge of additional music for the second season. Walt Disney Records has released the main theme on YouTube and several other platforms, including Spotify.

If you need a refresher on the character of Boba Fett, the new 20-minute documentary "Under the Helmet: The Legacy of Boba Fett" is now available on Disney+. The special features new interviews with Lucasfilm legends like George Lucas, Ben Burtt, Joe Johnston, Dave Filoni, and Steve Sansweet and features lots of remastered behind-the-scenes footage.

An Unannounced Tales of the Jedi Project?

Lucasfilm's holiday gift for employees may have revealed a new "Star Wars" series called "Tales of the Jedi," as seen in a set of photos that have been posted on Reddit (check the images out here). The Holiday gift features the logos of upcoming movies and series coming from Lucasfilm, including "Andor," "Obi-Wan Kenobi," and the upcoming "Willow" series. A logo for "Tales of the Jedi" appears in between logos for "The Bad Batch" and "Star Wars: Visions," leading to speculation that the new project could also be animated.

If "Tales of the Jedi" sounds familiar, it's because it was the title of a Dark Horse Comics series set in the Old Republic that ran from 1993 through 1998. In November 2021, it was announced that Dark Horse would be "producing a brand-new line of all-ages comic books and graphic novels" set in the galaxy far, far away in addition to a reprinting of the "Tales of the Jedi" series next year.

The original comic was set 5,000 years before the events of "Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope" and focused on the Jedi Knight-turned-Sith Lord Ulic Qel-Droma (pictured above). It's possible Lucasfilm wants to repurpose the title for a new animated series set during the Old Republic or High Republic era. The title also suggests that it could be an anthology series — imagine if there's a wrap-around structure with Rey and Finn, after the events of "Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker," delving into the sacred Jedi texts as Finn studies to become a Jedi. That would be pretty amazing, right?
