LOL: 'Alien' Hero Ellen Ripley Gets Poor Health Care From Stephen Colbert

Next month will bring a new chapter of the Alien franchise to the big screen with Ridley Scott back behind the camera for Alien: Covenant. The film is both a sequel to Prometheus and a prequel to Alien, and there are apparently several more stories left to tell in between.

The new line-up of Alien films forced Neill Blomkamp to cancel his alternate sequel that would have brought back Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley, but that movie seems to be on the backburner indefinitely. Thankfully, someone else was able to give us our fix of Ellen Ripley, albeit in the form of a comedy sketch where she has some trouble getting proper healthcare from The Late Show host Stephen Colbert after all the xenomorph encounters she's had over the years.

I'll be the first to admit that like almost all comedy on CBS, this sketch isn't all that hilarious. It's more mildly amusing than anything, almost like a lost sketch from Stephen Colbert's days on The Dana Carvey Show, but it does have its moments. It's great that Sigourney Weaver took the time to do this, especially since it might be the only way we get to see her as Ellen Ripley again.

Easily the best part is when Ripley lists off all the times she's been attacked by xenomorphs, especially that time she died fighting them in Alien 3, which Colbert's unhelpful character Randy (who gave James Bond trouble at a car rental office) defines as a pre-existing condition. But it's all good since she ends up (kinda) back to life as a clone 200 years later in Alien: Resurrection.
