Superman Is The Best Superhero, According To A Scientific University Study
Comic book fans can undoubtedly have endless debates about which superhero is the best, often times resorting to determining which superhero would win in a fight against another. Well, some researchers at the University of Leicester decided to really dig into that argument with a seven-year study to determine who is the "best-equipped" superhero of all time.
It will likely come as no surprise that Superman came out on top, mostly due to the strength of his high-density muscle tissue on Earth as well as his super flare attack, which releases energy through every cell in his body with an output of 7.07x105 Joules per second. Hit the jump to find out more about how this conclusive superhero study was done.
Here's a chart showing how each hero's abilities and weaknesses were broken down (via Gizmodo):
It appears as if these 12 superheroes (and one villain) were the only ones studied, which seems a little shortsighted and incomplete. I'm not sure why someone like Jean Grey or Wonder Woman wasn't included in this study, as both are superheroes who seem like they would beat the hell out of Mystique any day of the week.
But still, there's no arguing that Batman is not well-equipped as a superhero. As the report indicates, Batman probably couldn't even survive landing on the streets of Gotham after gliding through the city, let alone surviving a fight with Superman. Though Superman appears to have been given some inaccurate advantages here with only one weakness listed. In addition to Kryptonite, Superman is also weakened by magic (no joke) and several other attacks.
