Watch The Incredible 'Daredevil' Season 2 Stairwell Fight Scene In All Of Its Bone-Crunching Glory

We'll be running a full review of Daredevil season 2 very soon, but here's the CliffNotes version for those who are curious: it's very good and a significant improvement over the first season in many key areas. It also has its fair share of flaws (and odd deviations from the Marvel canon), but it's easy to see the path ahead for the series. There actually seems to be a real plan this time around. And it's paced relatively well!

One area where the new season consistently matches the first season is the action. This new batch of episodes has no shortage of broken limbs, smashed faces, battered torsos. Matt Murdock walks away from every fight bleeding and bruised and his opponents rarely walk away at all. For fans of well-choreographed fisticuffs, it's good stuff. And of course, the best action scene from the season has made its way online so you can revisit it again.

Naturally, spoilers lurk ahead for anyone who hasn't watched through episode three of the new season. Then again, this is pretty much five minutes of the Man Without Fear punching bikers in the face, so there's not that much to be spoiled.

For those who want to give this a watch and haven't watched the season yet, here's all the context you need: the violent vigilante Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) has attracted a horde of criminals to an unassuming apartment building. Daredevil (Charlie Cox), wanting to prevent the Punisher from murdering more people, knocks him unconscious. However, that means that the Devil of Hell's Kitchen now has to face an entire army on his lonesome, armed only with a chain and a pistol duct taped to his hand (thanks for that one, Frank).

Like the instantly famous hallway fight scene from season one, the gimmick here is that the whole sequence is shot in one take. Unlike that fight scene, there are many places where you can see opportunities for hidden cuts and digital trickery. Not that there's anything wrong with that – this is a far more complex action scene featuring far more opponents and a far more complicated setting. If they actually did pull this off in one unbroken take, then Holy Crap. But if not, it's still a fine piece of action filmmaking. No superhero hits harder than the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Daredevil and this whole scene looks like it hurts. In the best possible way, of course.

Daredevil season 2 is currently streaming on Netflix. Look for our full review of the whole thing tomorrow.
