'Spectre' Easter Eggs: Did You Catch All Of These James Bond References?

Last weekend, Spectre took the top spot at the box office despite the film being considerably less acclaimed than its predecessor Skyfall. There are a myriad of complaints ranging from the length of the film to the unevenness of the story, but one of the more divisive elements is the use of some of the more old-school James Bond tropes. Whether it's Monica Bellucci as a grieving widow suddenly turned on by 007, the cheeky one-liners, or the contrived climax, there's plenty about Spectre that feels like it's straight out of the 1960s and 1970s.

But beyond the old-school style of the film, there are also plenty of simple Spectre Easter eggs that merely reference earlier James Bond films without getting in your face about it. See if you caught all the Easter eggs after the jump, but beware of spoilers.

Here's all of the Spectre Easter eggs that have been noticed so far from Mr. Sunday Movies:

Right off the bat, Spectre gives us the gun barrel opening with running blood, which we've yet to see as the first shot of a Daniel Craig James Bond film. A clever variation on the shot was used in Casino Royale, but this was much different. This should have been the first indicator that Spectre was going to deliver a more classic Bond, albeit in the more grounded universe that the Daniel Craig movies have adhered to. But things do seem to get out of hand towards the end.

Otherwise, there are plenty of goodies for longtime James Bond fans to notice, from Bond finally ordering a martini shaken not stirred (I wonder why he suddenly cares) to a henchman (Dave Bautista) who just won't die. But those are the obvious ones. There are plenty of more subtle ones like Bond's Dia de Los Muertos wardrobe and much more. Surely we'll notice more when Spectre hits home video, but this will do for now.

For what it's worth, I think Spectre is getting bashed a little too harshly by critics. Despite its shortcomings, there's still plenty to enjoy, and that's coming from someone who isn't a longtime James Bond fan. The biggest problem is that Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation arrived first and did a similar plot much better.
