VOTD: Rose Byrne Cracks Up In 'Spy' Gag Reel
In Paul Feig's comedy Spy, Rose Byrne played the mostly villainous character Rayna, but even a character with a cold soul cracks up when she's in the same room with a bunch of accomplished comedians. And so we've got this clip from a Spy gag reel drawn from the film's home video release, which is available from digital HD outlets today.
Here Rose Byrne, herself a very accomplished comedian, loses it more than a few times while shooting various scenes in the film. Check out part of the reel — one of two on the home release — below.
It's this sort of reel, I think, that gives rise to the impression that working on set can be all fun and laughs. That's not the case, but when performers like these are together we want to see some moments of unsanctioned levity.
Spy, written and directed by Paul Feig, features Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, Jude Law, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Allison Janney, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, and Miranda Hart.
Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy) is an unassuming, deskbound CIA analyst, and the unsung hero behind the Agency's most dangerous missions. But when her partner (Jude Law) falls off the grid and another top agent (Jason Statham) is compromised, she volunteers to go deep undercover to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer, and prevent a global disaster.
Here are the special feature specs for the Blu-ray and DVD release. The discs arrive on September 29, while the digital version is available today. The DVD features the theatrical cut; the blu-ray features both theatrical and unrated cuts.
