Watch 'The Muppets' Comic-Con Panel With Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo And More

Even though fans were going crazy over the panels for shows like The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones at Comic-Con, one panel that we didn't get to check out that had equally rabid fans was for The Muppets and their return to television in the self-titled ABC mockumentary series.

We've already seen a trailer teasing the promising return of Jim Henson's favorite creations, but seeing Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo and the rest of the crew take on a panel at Comic-Con is something entirely different. It's actually kind of magical, continuing to make these characters feel real. So watch the entire Muppets Comic Con panel after the jump and learn some new details about the show too!

Here's The Muppets Comic-Con panel from MouseInfo:

As you can see, the panel included executive producers Bob Kushell, Randall Einhorn and Bill Barretta. But the real stars are Steve Whitmire (who voices Kermit and Rizzo the Rat), Dave Goelz (who voices Gonzo), Eric Jacobson (who voices Miss Piggy and Fozzie) and Barretta too (who voices Pepe and Rowlf the Dog).

Co-creator Bill Prady was on hand, and he surprised the audience by showing them the 10-minute short which ended up landing them the new series on ABC. Sadly, that short isn't available online, but if it ever makes it on the web, we'll be sure to post it. But we did find out some new details on the show.

As for what we can expect from this new series, it'll be like meeting The Muppets all over again. Prady says:

"The trick of the show, if it works, is to make it feel for the first time that you're seeing the Muppets in our world. There's no barrier in the world that they're in and the world that we're in There's a whole aspect of their personal lives that we don't know and we're trying to construct personal lives for them that match the stuff that we do know."

For those who don't know, the series follows Miss Piggy, who is the host of her own late night talk show that runs behind Jimmy Kimmel on ABC. Kermit is serving as executive producer on the show, but he's currently dating another pig named Denise, who is the head of marketing at the network. Meanwhile the rest of The Muppets have crew roles as writers and editors, while The Swedish Chef takes care of craft services and Rowlf owns the bar across the street from the studio.

And since this is a mockumentary style show, Prady adds that it will feature "the intrigue that happens behind the scenes, but also at home and their emotional and personal lives." Diving into the personal lives of The Muppets sounds like it should offer some fresh new material, even for longtime fans of the series.

If you haven't seen the trailer for The Muppets yet, you can watch it right here. Otherwise, the comedy series premieres on ABC this fall on September 22nd at 8pm Eastern.
