VOTD: The Five Stages Of Watching A Pixar Movie
This weekend brings the touching and wonderful Inside Out, Pixar Animation's latest film, to theaters. And much like whenever a Marvel movie comes around, it seems the average movie goer runs through several different feelings every time they see a new Pixar movie.
The folks over at How It Should Have Ended have followed up their Five Stages of Watching a Marvel Movie with the equally accurate and amusing Five Stages of Watching a Pixar movie. If you're seeing Inside Out this weekend, I'm confident in saying you'll end up going through most of these stages. However, this time I think one won't happen with most people. Find out what I'm talking about after the jump.
In the particular case of seeing Inside Out this weekend, I'm not so sure people are going to be enamored with the short film that precedes Pixar's feature length emotional journey. The short is called Lava and it's very strange and straightforward, lacking the cleverness in writing that normally comes with Pixar's shorts. Honestly, it's the worst Pixar short they've released, and the audience in my screening didn't really seem to react to it much.
But otherwise, you'll have all the feels, and experience absolute nirvana after the movie is over. Inside Out dives into our feelings, literally and figuratively, as the personify each one perfectly. Pixar has wonderfully give life to the voices inside our head, and there's a bunch of nice little touches that make it feel complete (getting a song stuck in your head, dreams, your train of thought, etc.).
After stumbling a bit over the past few years, I think it's safe to say that Pixar Animation has their head on straight again, and Inside Out is hopefully the first in another long line of stellar animated films from Disney's powerhouse animation studio.
