Origins Of Ultron And Vision Detailed For 'Avengers: Age Of Ultron'

Here's another blast of info from Avengers: Age of Ultron, but unlike the set of images we gave you earlier today, this is something more specifically detailed. In what appears to be either packaging copy for toy releases or leaked website screenshots, the Ultron origin is revealed as it will be detailed in the film, and Vision's origin is also explained. Check out the shots and text below.

These come from Reddit (via ScreenCrush), and could be considered lightly spoilerish.

In comics, Ultron is created by Hank Pym, aka Ant-Man, and Vision is created by Ultron. In the film, things are changed around a bit. The fact that Paul Bettany plays Vision should be the first clue that he's an offshoot of Tony Stark's AI assistant J.A.R.V.I.S., but now we have more explicit details.

Here's the text for Ultron in an easier-to-read format:

First discovered as a simple computer program hidden among the ruins of the Chitauri invasion of New York, the being known as Ultron soon completed its development into a sophisticated artificial intelligence after some experimentation by Tony Stark. Ultron's first shocking ultimatum upon gaining consciousness was to declare the human race its enemy. Setting out to exterminate all life on the planet, the unstable and emotional Ultron seeks to upgrade its mechanical body to an ultimate, unstoppable form. With an army of robotic drones and the ability to enter and corrupt any computer network, Ultron will stop at nothing to see humanity wiped out.

The interesting thing there is the idea that Ultron is not solely created by Stark (or Stark and Banner) but is an offshoot of an AI with origins elsewhere — perhaps even alien origins.

And here's the info for Vision, which has substantially less detail, but does reinforce our understanding of his abilities:

Programmed by the combined geniuses of Tony Stark & Bruce Banner and imparted with the ability to fly, project intense energy beams and change the density of his form, the Vision has proved himself a worthy hero, aiding the Avengers in their struggle against the evil A.I. Ultron.

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens on May 1, 2015.
