Star Wars Bits: 'Star Trek' Actor Joins 'Star Wars;' Plus 'Battlefront,' Han Solo And Carrie Fisher
Beer and parties are two of the things in this edition of Star Wars Bits. Yes, for real. There's also Episode VII speculation and all of the following:
J.J. Abrams made the jump from Star Trek to Star Wars and now another Trekkie has joined him. Brent Spiner, best known as Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation, will lend his voice to Star Wars Rebels as a Senator named Gall Trayvis. Star Wars Underworld has some spoilery details about the character.
We know performance capture will be used in Star Wars Episode VII. What we don't know is who is using it and what those people are. Well, a new rumor states the performance capture being used by Andy Serkis' Imaginarium is not like we know it. Instead, it's human movement controlling a droid, which exists in reality. Head to SW Underworld for more information on this potentially cool technological development.
As we all wait for the new Star Wars Battlefront to come out late 2015, some footage leaked of a cancelled version of the game from 2007. Then called Star Wars Battlefront III, the footage is from an XBox 360. Read more about the game and see another video at Star Wars 7 News.
We're not going to run these every week but we hadn't yet and figured it was worth mentioning. Every week after the new Star Wars Rebels, the official Star Wars website/YouTube uploads Rebels Recon, a short kind of wrap-up show. Here's the latest one for the episode "Fighter Flight."
SW 7 News posted a bunch of photos from outside a London venue where the cast and crew of Star Wars Episode VII were celebrating Carrie Fisher's recent birthday. Among the guests were J.J. Abrams, Daisy Ridley, Harrison Ford and, of course, Fisher herself.
One thing that wasn't served at that party was the new beer by Syracuse's Empire Brewing Co. Lucasfilm is considering legal action against the small brewery because they have a beer called "Strikes Bock." It's Empire's Strikes Bock. So yeah, that doesn't fly. However, Empire is fighting it. A few months back, former unknown actress Daisy Ridley got courted and signed by the popular United Talent Agency. Now, months later, she's already changed, moving to Creative Artists Agency. Why did this happen when she has been in London filming the whole time? Who knows. But Deadline has the story.
Possible, minor spoilers from here on out.Several sites are reporting the same rumor that, much like A New Hope, Han Solo will somehow need to put on a Stormtrooper costume in Episode VII. In fact Making Star Wars has some exclusive photos from the set of Stormtroopers filming a scene that may or may not be the scene in question. This goes against the news we'd heard that Harrison Ford had completed filming, however, so again – all rumors. But those photos are kind of cool.
Speaking of rumors, another possible description of a scene in the film has been posted. It describes an image of Han Solo and Chewbacca blasting their way out of a large, hexagonal hole in the ground. We've heard Han and Chewie do have to go on some missions in this movie so them fighting is pretty inevitable. But as for what the described forest like area is? We have no idea.
