See A 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' VFX Breakdown; Disc Release Will Have 'Age Of Ultron' Preview
Guardians of the Galaxy has been in theaters for months now — long enough to have come and gone from most markets. But it is still going strong as a force. Just look at the sales of the soundtrack, which is now hitting vinyl. Avengers: Age of Ultron probably doesn't need a push from Guardians, but Marvel is going to use interest in the space opera to pitch the Avengers sequel regardless. There will be an Age of Ultron preview on the Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-ray and DVD, which hit in December. In addition to info on that detail, we've also got a Guardians VFX breakdown and some great effects images.
First up, here's a VFX breakdown from Method Studios. This goes pretty fast, but you'll see all the layers that go into a few of the film's key scenes. As always with these I want to see a lot more than we get here, but this is still a good start.
Then there's the work from Daren Horley of Framestone VFX (via Comic Book Movie), who shares some of the texture painting work he did for Guardians. Horley has offered up a couple of my favorite Rocket Raccoon images so far, including the header image above. Here's a gallery of stuff he shared.
Finally, here are the details on the Guardians of the Galaxy disc release, via Stitch Kingdom.
