Star Wars Bits: Anthony Daniels Finishes Episode VII, Forest Filming Details, Oscar Isaac And Rebels
One of the most iconic Star Wars actors has finished his work on the new film, plus a new actor has some thoughts for the old guard and more in this edition of Star Wars Bits:
A few months back, dozens of trailers and piles of film equipment were spotted outside the Forest of Dean near Wales. Everyone assumed it was for filming Star Wars Episode VII. Those assumptions were reportedly right. Total Geeks ran into the full cast and crew of the film in a near by luxury hotel and got some info on what exactly what was being filmed.
Minor spoilers follow. According to the report, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Pip Andersen were likely in the scene. Adam Driver was also on set, though they didn't hear if he was in the scene or not. Extras staying in the hotel also said the scene (or some scene, it was unclear) featured " thousands of extra hands on set." But it seems likely whatever the forest scene is, it's at least a battle or action scene.
End spoilers.
C-3PO himself, Anthony Daniels, took to Twitter to tell the fans he's finished shooting on Star Wars Episode VII:
In today's golden hour, on a back lot in SE England, it was a wrap for me. Terminal, I hope, only in relation to Episode VII.Time will tell.
— Anthony Daniels (@ADaniels3PO) September 26, 2014
The question is, does this mean C-3PO's part is small, or did they just get it all done in a chunk? We won't know until next December.
Oscar Isaac is playing...someone in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars Episode VII and talked about the franchise with the Huffington Post. He rejoiced about how great it is shooting on film, and then said he didn't like what George Lucas did to the original films:
Well, it's a funny thing. I mean there's two things. As an artist, like, he made the shit, so why can't he do whatever the heck he wants with it. There's a part of me that appreciates that he doesn't really care if people are upset about it. He decided to share it with all of it and he wants to go back and do stuff, whatever. But as a fan, I'd much rather go back and watch the old thing, because it's a product of the time. It's what did you do at the time with the things that you had. And that's what made that movie so amazing. At that time with that technology he made this thing and it was fucking awesome. So, you know, to go back and kind of tweak it with new stuff, it doesn't make it more interesting for me as a watcher. It makes it less interesting, but I can't fault him for doing that.
Artist Blake Armstrong has released this funny mash-up of Ron Burgundy and Han Solo, available right here.
We know Star Wars Rebels is mostly center on new characters, but we've seen images of some old, recognizable ones appearing on the show too. Now, actor David Oyelowo – who voices Agent Kallus – confirmed to Yahoo (via JediNews) that some other surprise characters will be appearing:
There are very exciting characters that emerge in this, that audiences know and love and they make very surprising appearances within the show itself. There's a definite wow factor.
Toys R Us has a cool little video explaining the relationship of The Phantom to The Ghost, the two main ships in Star Wars Rebels.
And finally, maybe Star Wars Rebels related or maybe not, Star Wars Episode VII actor John Boyega took to Instagram to say he was doing the voice of a cartoon recently. If it was Rebels, he probably wouldn't be allowed to even tease it, but anything is possible:
