'American Horror Story' Season Four Returning Cast And Title Revealed

All three seasons of Ryan Murphy's show American Horror Story have been freakshows in one sense. They're filled with monsters and monstrous acts, sex, and violence. But for the the fourth season things will be more literal. The American Horror Story season four title has been revealed as Freak Show. The next thirteen-episode installment of the series will follow a group of characters worthy of the film Freaks as they use any means necessary to keep their business going..

Murphy announced the title today via Twitter, in some ways confirming hopes reports that AHS would next be set in a carnival. A freak show is close enough, and makes sense given the series' other settings. We have a few more details about the new season below, including info on the returning cast.

Here's Murphy's announcement:

EW has more details, saying "Set in Jupiter, Florida, in 1950, Freak Show finds Jessica Lange playing a German ex-pat who is managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S."

Among the cast playing roles in Lange and Murphy's sideshow will be Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy, all playing "performers whom Lange's character has rescued." Meanwhile, Denis O'Hare and Emma Roberts are in talks to return to the show as well, but we don't know anything about their roles.
