Minor 'Interstellar' Plot Revelation Grounds The Film

We know that Christopher Nolan's Interstellar features characters that journey to and/or through a wormhole in space, but that's (forgive the pun) a pretty nebulous description. There are many different ways in which that basic plot could end up articulated on screen, and waiting to see how it all plays out is obviously part of the pleasure.

But a new report about the film shooting in Florida seems to give up some info that hadn't previously been reported. Because we don't know how much of this info will be in the first trailer or two, you should consider the info potentially spoilerish. That said, the release of info for films like this is very tightly managed by the unit publicist, and one would assume that anything ending up in a newspaper report had been cleared. Fair warning.

The Fort Macleod Gazette (via JoBlo) reports:

Set in the future, the movie details the toll climate change has taken on agriculture, with corn the last crop to be cultivated.

The scientists embark on a journey through a worm hole into other dimensions in search of somewhere other crops can be grown.

That's a plot wrinkle that sounds like a good way to ground the story, so it isn't just set around a hopeful trip out into space. How that all works out remains to be seen, of course.
