'Don Jon' Trailer: Joseph Gordon-Levitt And Scarlett Johansson Just Want A Normal Relationship

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's debut as a feature writer/director is Don Jon, in which he also stars as a Jersey guy who has a little problem with internet porn. In fact, the problem is pretty significant, as it completely infects his attempts to have something like a normal relationship with a woman who isn't caught within his laptop screen.

This short new trailer sets up a small version of the story that focuses on the character's attempt to have a relationship with a high-maintenance girl played by Scarlett Johansson. Check it out below.

The cutting of the trailer is based on the repetition JGL uses to establish his character's routine in the film, but in general this vision of the movie seems designed to pitch it to a broad audience that might be looking for the sort of romantic comedy that Johansson's character loves. I don't think this is the best look at the film, in truth, but it does hint at some of the storytelling style and energy, and at the scene-stealing work of Tony Danza, Brie Larson, and Glenne Headly. it doesn't even hint at the role Julianne Moore plays, but that's part of the fun that waits for audiences who commit to the film in full.

Don Jon opens on September 27. Yahoo has the trailer.

Jon Martello (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a strong, handsome, good old-fashioned guy. His buddies call him Don Jon due to his ability to "pull" a different woman every weekend, but even the finest fling doesn't compare to the bliss he finds alone in front of the computer watching pornography. Barbara Sugarman (Scarlett Johansson) is a bright, beautiful, good old-fashioned girl. Raised on romantic Hollywood movies, she's determined to find her Prince Charming and ride off into the sunset. Wrestling with good old-fashioned expectations of the opposite sex, Jon and Barbara struggle against a media culture full of false fantasies to try and find true intimacy in this unexpected comedy written and directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
