January Jones Says Emma Probably Won't Be In 'X-Men: Days Of Future Past', Promises More Betty In 'Mad Men' Season 6
Bryan Singer seems to be bringing back just about everyone for X-Men: Days of Future Past, including actors like Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman from the previous trilogy. But there is, apparently, one notable exception. January Jones, who played Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class, said she has not been contacted about reprising her role — and that she doesn't expect that to change.
Fortunately for her fans, though, she'll still be plenty visible in the coming months. The actress also promised that Betty Draper Francis would play a more prominent role in Mad Men's sixth season than she did in its fifth. Keep reading after the jump.
I don't know that I'm in it, I don't think Emma's in this one. Well they haven't told me if I am (laughs). I wouldn't put it past them though, I got the script for the first one on the airplane on the way there. It's called Days of Future Past I think, and I think it's more about James [McAvoy] and Michael [Fassbender] and then Patrick [Stewart] and Ian [McKellan], and I think it's gonna go back and forth with those so I don't think Emma's in those bits. I don't know, I really don't know.
X-Men: Days of Future Past seems to have more than enough characters already, and Emma was more of a supporting character in First Class. It makes sense if the sequel simply doesn't have room for her.
The news is happier for people who like Jones from Mad Men. While Jones' real-life pregnancy led to Betty having a reduced role in Season 5, the actress says we can expect to see much more of the character in Season 6. "Betty will be in it a bit more," she teased to HitFix. Not surprisingly, she wouldn't divulge any details. Feel free to comb yesterday's cast photos for hints, though.
Mad Men returns for its penultimate season on April 7. X-Men: Days of Future Past lands in theaters July 18, 2014.
